It’s the weekend – so almost time to plan your week ahead – the first week of August!
All successful business owners / directors I work with plan their week ahead – usually on a Sunday. It’s a way to work super-efficiently and steal a march on lazy competitors. For some, it’s a ten-minute job each Sunday afternoon: for most it’s 15-20 minutes on Sunday evening to help smooth their week ahead.
Before I share the three things you should work on during your Sunday ‘plan my week’ session, make sure you don’t get stressed. Rather than putting this off until it’s bedtime, find ten-minutes during Sunday to work on your ‘plan my week’ session. You’ll be pleased you did: it’s a great feeling to know that you are on top of your week ahead, before you start.
Here they are: three things to do during your ‘plan my week’ session.
- Check your calendar. Are you prepared for your meetings? This is a good time to see if your schedule is sensibly planned and if meetings can be moved around to make better use of your time.
- Plan and rehearse the conversations you need to have in your meetings. Given it’s Sunday, bullet points will have to suffice.
- Aim to finish your week having fixed one problem, exploited one decent opportunity and to have promoted your business on one way or another e.g. a blog post, social media …
If you haven’t tried a ‘plan my week’ session before, I hope you will give it a go. You will be amazed at how well this keeps you focussed next week.
Whatever you decide – and hopefully you will give Sunday planning a go, have a great weekend.
